An Attitude of Gratitude – June 24, 2011

June 24, 2011

The last few days have been incredibly busy.  What with putting the majority of my effort into leading the group through the lesson on Spiritual gifts I also had shopping and laundry to do.  The dogs always need walked and fed and played with.  And work takes a huge chunk out of my day.  But you know what?  I am not complaining.  It’s a good busy and I always prefer being busy to not.

Without any further ado, here’s my list for today…

  1. Flowers.  I was walking the dogs this morning and discovered the property is covered in yellow flowers.  It must be because the rain is finally over and the sun is out.  There are some other flowers on the property that are giving off a lovely fragrance as well.  I’m not sure which ones they are but I am enjoying them.
  2. The hammock.  There is a hammock on the property beckoning to me.  I’ve spent a grand total of 10 minutes in it during the three weeks I’ve there but plan on putting in some serious time this weekend.  It is a place where I can rest and relax and meditate on God.
  3. BloodSource.  One of the ways I give back to the community is through regular platelet donations at BloodSource.  I am so grateful they are there.  I personally know a woman whose life was saved by a platelet donation.  I will continue to donate for as long as I am able.  I consider BloodSource part of my missions work.
  4. God’s work in my heart.  When I started this part of my blog I was having a lot of issues in my life and I did not care for my attitude at all.  The Holy Spirit prompted me, reminding me that I always tell people that gratitude can effect great (positive) changes in your life.  In the few weeks I have been doing this I have seen a huge difference in my attitude and, consequently, my life.  I am liking myself again.  I am so grateful for the whispers of the Holy Spirit.
  5. My friend.  I am so grateful for the home she is providing for me.  It is a joy to care for her dog and home.  Even if things didn’t work out as we planned we know that God has His hand in all of it.  She will home again on Sunday (she’s been recuperating with a friend who lives in Reno) and I am looking forward to spending some time with her.

Dear Lord, please accept these offerings of my gratitude for Your touch in my life.  You are a mighty God and worthy of all praise and honor.  Please help me stay on the path you have laid before me so that I may bring glory and honor to Your holy name.  I pray these things in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  AMEN
